Dr. Ferré recently took part in the collection of core samples at the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Core Repository in Bremen, Germany. These cores were retrieved from the Norwegian continental margin during IODP Expedition 396.

The main objectives of this expedition are to find the cause of the Paleocene-Eocene thermal maximum 55 million years ago and how basaltic magmatism may have contributed to this climatic event.
